Creating a real life Tin Toy!

So for this weeks post, my work and some of my process in recreating a realistic looking Old vintage tin toy.

1. Like with every creative process this involves finding reference. I found this toy design online that I really liked.Mind you I don not own the rights to this particular toy design or brand, this is for a school project.
2. I started modeling in maya from a simple polygon cube. The modelling mostly involved just moving around the vertices, bevels and extruding the geometry a lot. Always gotta start with the most basic shapes and work them up. keep it simple and watch edge flow!

3. From here I did the UV mapping in Maya, I had to put the rooster and bunny into Zbrush to sculpt the extra details in the geometry. Along with working on the textures and details in substance painter.

4. After rendering in Arnold, here is my final outcome!

Set Extention Assingment

With second semester back in full swing here are some of the assignments I am currently working on. We are given a clip that we will be camera tracking recoloring and modelling. Here is a still frame of the  the original.

I will be using a combination of all the skills and software knowledge I acquired to transform this scene. Into something like this.

What I need to do now is model the castles, boats and bridge. Along with some matte painting, color correction and compositing to fit the scene. Stay Tuned! :)

Oh shipped shooting part 2!

So I'm back from my break and finished up the shooting this weekend. Actors and crew did a great job as always.

A challenge for this scene will be that on of the characters are smashing a chair. I will be modeling a CGI chair in Maya and swapping it. So I put markers to help track it!

This scene will be taking place inside the bridge of my spaceship. I am excited to really bring it to life!
